And being a cheap bastard bites me again.

I needed a new CPU, so I go to the monthly computer show as usual. Instead of buying from the company that I know is reliable, I decide to save $20 by getting a Pentium III from Company X. It didn’t work.

So I mail it back to be replaced, but now I need a new motherboard (when the first CPU overheated, it damaged the motherboard too). Instead of ordering it from the company that I know is reliable, I go to eBay and buy one from Company Y.

So now I have to send my new motherboard back to be replaced. Maybe I’ll learn something from this. Stay away from computers all together.

Kind of weird

I found The Molossian Military Academy this morning. Finally, a shortcut on the road to being a 5-star general.

I couldn’t believe this was a real book when I saw it the other day. I think O’Reilly is getting sassy.

I really want to make a website. I have several, and even a domain name I bought last year, but no real sites. The problem is I have nothing interesting to say. I don’t let that stop me here (to the great chagrin of all those who friended me), but a website is more static in a way. If I say something boring and short here, it will be out of sight in a few hours. It probably won’t damn my journal to obscurity, but putting the same drivel on an independent website would be a waste of time. Read More Drivel

The envelope please…

And the award for the funniest line of all time in a television commercial goes to…

Jack in the Box for:

“Jack, how do you know if you’re a lesbian?”

<Jack staring at her blankly>

I hung out in Barnes & Noble for three hours today. It was pretty cool, I just walked around and read sections from various books. I like B&N better than Borders for browsing, at least here. The Borders here always has punk or rock playing, which I have no problem with, but it is hard to read to. Besides, the regular Borders crowd is too cool for me.

I found a lot of cool books, particularly Spider, Spin Me a Web, and some stuff on NURBS. I didn’t buy anything though, I’m trying not to buy on impulse. Only warp buying for me <g>
